To be admitted to this programme all applicants must be at least 16 years of age on the date the programme starts, and meet one of the following requirements:

NCEA requirements

NCEA Level 3

Numeracy

10 credits at Level 1 or above made up of:

OR

  • An equivalent of the above  from another secondary qualification, OR
  • Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 4 or above with a relevant pathway.

Discretionary admission

If you do not meet the admission requirements stated above and believe you have the level of preparedness for study at this level, you may apply but will need to provide relevant evidence to support your application for admission and/or may be asked to complete a proficiency test. 

Literacy requirements

Applicants who are unable to provide evidence of the NCEA literacy credits or equivalent, may be required to demonstrate capability using an approved proficiency test or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.

International applicants must provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the programme as demonstrated by an IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic) with no individual band lower than 5.5 from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules and on our website.

Maximum programme completion time

To be awarded the qualification it must be completed in no more than 10 years of first enrolment, unless there are exceptional circumstances. 

International students and domestic students living overseas

You can study this programme part-time if you’re an international student living in New Zealand or overseas. If you’re living in New Zealand you will need to be in paid employment with a valid work permit.

You can also study this programme if you’re a New Zealand citizen living overseas.

Computer and internet requirements

This programme is delivered online. To complete this programme you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer, reliable broadband internet connection and a data plan able to support online learning such as streaming of videos (including YouTube), downloading content, and writing and submitting online assessments. If you are unsure if your current computer or internet access allows you to complete your online learning with us, please contact us before applying to enrol.
