The Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Leadership will provide learners with a range of skills and practices developing critical leadership skills within the library, archives and records and information management workforce in a chosen specialist field.  If currently employed, learners will gain valuable opportunities to incorporate work-related learning that may build on an existing role or equip for new responsibilities.  

 

What you will learn

When you achieve this qualification, you will be able to:

  • Develop leadership and management strategies to promote ethical and effective evidence-based information solutions within communities and organisations to enable open and equitable access to information.
  • Lead and innovate in the development and delivery of services, collections, and programmes in the information sector.
  • Identify and apply solutions to contemporary issues impacting information professionals.
  • Develop stakeholder and community engagement initiatives to collaborate and engage with Māori and Pasifika and other diverse community groups.

 

Practical learning activities

The following course in the Graduate Diploma programme includes supervised practice learning activities. These will take place within an organisation or community setting:

  • LIS704: Library and Information Service Professional Practice. For this course you will undertake a period of workplace practice of up to 100 hours. This can be done in your current workplace or another suitable Library and Information Services context. 

Maximum Programme Completion Time

To be awarded the qualification, the programme must be completed in no more than 3 years of first enrolment, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
