Qualification update
Closed to enrolments from new learners after the December 2022 intake for core courses and early 2023 intake for some strands.
We are no longer taking enrolments from new learners for NZ245901 New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (Accounting) (Version 3) following the December 2022 intake for core courses and early 2023 intake for some strands. A new version of the programme will be available in February 2023, and Te Pūkenga is using this opportunity to develop a unified programme that will be offered online and in person at Te Pūkenga campuses.
Please check back on our website in 2023 for information on the new programme.
Re-enrolling learners
If you had already started studying NZ245901 New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (Accounting) (Version 3) up to and including December 2022, you can continue to re-enrol in your next course. Depending on how far along you are in your studies, you may be transitioned from Version 3 to Te Pūkenga’s version of this programme. Be assured that no learners will be disadvantaged in any transition arrangements.

The following two tables set out the dates we will close Version 3 courses for enrolment, and open Te Pūkenga courses for enrolment.

Completing your qualification
Depending on how many courses you have already completed, you may need to transition to Te Pūkenga’s version of the programme. The following table sets out the pathway for you to complete your qualification under our transition arrangements. Please be assured no learner will be disadvantaged in any transition arrangements.
Completed some of the core courses and no strand courses in Version 3.

Complete the remaining core courses in Te Pūkenga Equivalent Core Courses. See Table 1 for these courses.
Then enrol in the Te Pūkenga Equivalent Strand Courses. See Table 2 for these courses.
On successful completion, apply to graduate.

Completed BUS509 Introduction to Accounting and Taxation

Enrol in BUS510 Applied Accounting in Trimester 1 2023 and BUS511 Analysis of Financial Accounting in either Trimester 1 or Trimester 2 2023. Please note, these are the last offerings of the Open Polytechnic courses.
Then enrol in Te Pūkenga course ACCY5104 Budgets for Planning and Control.

Please note, learners who are studying NZ245901 New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) ( Accounting) (Version 3) must enrol in and complete their last course(s) within four years of their first enrolment to be awarded this qualification. Qualification Structure
This programme is made up of 8 compulsory courses, four core courses followed by four compulsory accounting courses.
After you complete the four core courses, you then need to complete all four courses in the compulsory accounting section to gain the qualification.
The four core courses will be offered monthly and the compulsory courses for the Accounting Strand will be offered in each trimester.
Compulsory Core Courses
We recommend that you start with BUS501 first and then work your way through the list finishing with BUS504 before completing the Accounting courses.
