Students will be required to complete a minimum of 20 hours in an approved floristry retail workplace during the course to demonstrate achievement of the workplace-based learning outcomes.

When you successfully complete this course, you will be able to:  

  • Describe the key features and identify examples of the application of the elements and principles of floral design in intermediate base medium floral pieces.
  • Identify and promote sustainable working practices in a floristry retail workplace.
  •  Identify and name flowers and foliage used in intermediate base medium pieces by their common and botanical names.
  •  Plan, prepare, cost and construct base medium floral pieces for a range of occasions to meet customer specifications.

Assessment  

This course is 100% internally assessed.  

Tools

  • Industry tools; flowers scissors/snips, secateurs

Sundries:

  • Industry bowls (No 6 suggested)
  • floral foam, or Agrawool, or OshunPouch or chicken wire
  • Industry floral wire, or pot tape, or rubber bands

Fresh Materials 

  • Flowers and foliage for all-round and upright front facing bowls

 

The cost of materials (including tools and fresh flowers/foliage) for this course is likely to be $500.00
