Ākonga will develop knowledge, skills and strategies to critically defend an informed pedagogical position and contribute to early childhood curriculums and future policy directions for early childhood education.
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Critically analyse current issues and debates related to curriculum approaches in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Critically reflect on ways kaiako can respond to current issues and debates within early childhood curriculum with a focus on advocacy for high-quality early childhood education for tamariki, whānau and community.
- Apply professional and curriculum knowledge to support infants, toddlers, and young children’s learning and development and high-quality early childhood education.
