This is the fourth course of the Teacher Education Refresh (TER) training scheme, OP7702 Teaching Practice, for teachers who need to regain their Practising Certificate as required by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Before you enrol in this course need to have completed EDU701 Teaching in Aotearoa New Zealand, EDU702 Creating a Culture for Learning and EDU703 Effective Design for Learning.
What you will learn
When you who successfully complete this course you will be able to:
- Implement designed learning experiences
- Evaluate the delivery and design of designed learning experiences
- Critically reflect on how these demonstrate progress towards meeting the Standards | Ngā Tikanga Matatika Ngā Paerewa (opens in new tab).
Practicum
As part of this course you need to complete a four-week practicum, where you must teach at least 0.5 of a full-time teaching load, under the supervision of a fully registered teacher in a learning organisation.
The final intake for this practicum course is the October block. Please note all enrolments close two weeks before the course start date. Practicum is not open in November, December or January.
Before you enrol for EDU704 you need to:
- Negotiate your own practicum placement
- Email the TER Practicum Intention form (WordDoc 550 KB) and MOA to TER@openpolytechnic.ac.nz
- Have completed police vetting (outlined in the programme entry requirements information).
