This includes understanding the foundations of the New Zealand education system, the regulatory, ethical and professional obligations of a teaching role and preparing for this role by establishing a professional development plan.
Teacher Education Refresh
This is the first course of the Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme.
This programme is specifically for teachers who are required by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand to complete the Teacher Education Refresh programme before regaining their Practising Certificate.
Students who successfully complete this online course will be able to
- Critically discuss what it means to be a member of the teaching profession in Aotearoa New Zealand and how to engage in professional, respectful and collaborative relationships.
- Examine teaching responsibilities under statutory, regulatory and professional requirements and apply these to teaching practice situations.
- Design a professional development plan, analysing key actions, resources, and support needed to achieve professional goals.
